Dealing with Identity Crisis

LIFE IS TOUGH

Many are struggling with identity crisis.  Others are searching for their roots because they greatly affects the way they face the present and their future.  Knowing who we are and where we came from will give meaning and purpose for our lives.  Discover it from God’s words and teach it to others, especially to little children.  Do not follow the bad example we have in our today’s story.

YOU NEED A LAUGH

Don’t Be Personal
A teacher was talking about Adam and Eve and their relation to the creation of man and woman when Junior at the back interrupted incredulously, “But Father said we descended from monkeys.”

Teacher: “Shut up!  We are not talking about your family.”

THINGS TO LEARN

  • Be truthful and careful in teaching your children.  They will believe everything you will tell them.  More importantly, be sure that they are properly grounded in the revealed truth of God’s word as early as possible if they are to grow as adults with healthy identity and self-worth.
  • Older people (parents, teachers, adults, etc.) should not be harsh towards the little ones.  And do not embarrass them when they ask questions and clarify things.  Many times, children’s quest for truth can be hampered by this kind of experience.

LIVE A HAPPY LIFE

Genesis 1:26-28, Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.  God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.  Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Luke 18:16, “But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

From the beginning of the account of man’s origin, God revealed it to us that we were created in His image and likeness.  We were never ever descended from any animal of any kind because according to God’s word, He Himself created man far different from any created beings, including all the animals.  In fact, God gave mankind authority and rulership over all He has created.

God created male and female, Adam and Eve, the first couple and parent. If you are a male, thank God He made you that way and if you’re a female, praise Him for creating you as you.  God never makes a mistake!  Be secure in what He made you to be.

And how befitting to introduce this fundamental truth to the minds of the young ones at the earliest time possible!  Long before the enemy corrupts their identity by his multifaceted lies about who they are, where they came from and where they are going.  Jesus made this plain in His own ministry when He was here on earth.  He let little children come to Him and even rebuked His disciples (the older ones) when they tried to hinder these precious little ones from doing so.  He further stressed that the Kingdom of heaven is for those who have a child-like attitude: so trusting, so believing.  Let us therefore help make this world a happier place to live in by trusting the Most High God with child-like hearts and helping as many others do the same.  Let’s give value to our kids and be mindful of what we teach them.  God bless your family.
